Bring Your Floors to Life with Pattern and Print

In the past week I’ve been collaborating with Luxury Flooring to bring you my week in floors. Now I’ve gone out of my way to find something a little nicer than the beige carpet that adorns my office, because seriously that’s not what you want to see, so I hope you enjoy following my adventures through the floors that I’ve spotted.

Now back when I went on the Spanish Design Tour, I took lots of #floorselfies (of my feet) and noticed just how popular they were, particularly on Instagram. After all, everyone loves to look at a pretty floor, (and my shoes of course!) and the Spaniards know how to do tiled floors so beautifully. So since then, I’ve periodically been showcasing an interesting floor over on my IG account and jumped at the chance to put together a blog post illustrating some more incredible floors, if we would only take the time to look down and notice them.

Day 1:

So Day 1 found me spotting these quarry tiles in a shop entrance whilst I went out and about in town. I love this look. We used to have Victorian Minton tiles in a hallway of our old flat, and painstakingly removed them for a renovation project as they weren’t in good enough condition. We did keep them though, and later sold them on to a reclamation yard. (And I didn’t mean to coordinate the shoes with the pattern, that’s purely coincidental!)

Day 2:

Day 2 found me spotting another shop entrance in this beautiful, almost art deco pattern in a very on trend monochrome scheme. You can tell by the wear and tear that these tiles have been here for many, many years, and I wonder how many feet they have welcomed into this store.

Day 3:

Day 3 saw the arrival of my silver shoes and this beautiful patchwork floor in a cafe. I was meeting a friend for a coffee to break up the day and catch up on some gossip, when I spotted this design. I love the randomness which reminded me of making collages as a kid, but also loved the earthy, autumnal tones perfect for this time of year.

Day 4:

If you’re a Nottingham resident you’ll probably know this floor which resides in the city centre restaurant Georges. Now apart from serving the BEST fish and chips they also have some amazing decor, including Brooklyn Tin Tiles wallpaper on the ceiling and a strong industrial vibe running through the whole establishment. Anyway I was there just for a drink, and took this quite pic whilst there.

Day 5:

Day 5 saw me pounding the streets with the children, rushing from place to place trying to do all my chores. Some days are just like that aren’t they? We’re always so busy we often don’t stop and look, or notice our surroundings so I made a point of looking down now and again and was thrilled when I spotted this lovely tiled floor.

Day 6:

Nearing the end of the week I found myself in this Antropologie store on a trip out with a friend, and we instantly noticed this stunning tiled floor. Wow. It went on forever too, and almost distracted us from our shopping! Needless to say we managed to make a few purchased and I lusted over the home goods as well as the fashion.

Day 7:

And finally it’s Day 7 and I’m back home. This is the little porch at my front door where, earlier this year we laid some new tiles (which I just love!) and whilst my door mat is a little faded and probably needs replacing, these tiles make me smile every time I arrive home. Bought from a local tile centre, there were part of a last batch on sale and we just grabbed a few hoping we could use them somewhere. What do you think?
