Cupboards are easily overlooked and ignored, you can take them for granted as receptacles for stuff. But apart from being practical they can add such a splash of fun and colour to your home, and make a big impact – like this gorgeously rustic 16 drawer sideboard. There are some lovely cupboard ideas out there.
There is so much you can do to change or restore a tired looking cupboard. I loved upcycling an old DVD chest of drawers in our hallway by painting it Venetian blue and adding little blue globe handles.
Currently there is a real trend for mismatched and colourful drawers. They look great, but they also reflect how we live our lives. One size really does not fit all.
I can see these Kourtney units being so handy in a hallway, a real mix of really functional, mixed sized drawers, there’s a place to put papers as well normal size drawers for odds and ends, tiny drawers for random stuff and taller shelves for, well I would be tempted to shove hats and gloves in those.
I’ve chosen this retro looking chalkboard cupboard for our narrow hall, because it also has a space for reminders – perfect as you are flying out the door. It’s also the perfect place to stash things like my phone and keys out of the way when I want to switch off, but I want to be able to grab them quickly on the way out. There is a lot to be said for having one place to keep your things. It has a lovely old school feel to the wood, while the coloured drawers make the whole unit feel more contemporary. We keep one for chalks of course!
The detail on this Classic Chinese Cabinet by The Nine Schools is fabulous. The colour is amazing and the butterflies make it such a stunning piece of furniture. You wouldn’t get bored of looking at it or using it, it’s functional and beautiful too.
