There are lots of ways to add a touch of flair and personality to your home, and sometimes we need to identify small areas where we can make a big difference. In the case of a side table, something that’s often so practical and necessary in a living space, we have the perfect opportunity to create a little vignette of loveliness.
I’ve used some pieces from the lovely online store Cox and Cox. If you’ve not come across it before, do go and take a look their website. They have lots of unique and interesting home accessories that you don’t find out on the high street as well as pieces of furniture, lighting and rugs.
I wanted to change up this side table which sits next to an armchair in my living room bay window, and introduce more blue and grey hues. It’s a tricky spot to take the photos though because of the light from the window, but hopefully you get the idea from these.
I’m a big fan of vases. I don’t just use them for flowers, in fact many of them never get used for flowers at all, they’re just there for decoration. And what I loved about this collection from Cox and Cox is the mix of textures. The blue dots vase (the tallest one containing the lily) is actually very tall, smooth and heavy. The speckled vase is thinner, smaller and actually metal so a very different texture indeed. Then finally the concrete dipped vase has a chunky, rough texture just as you might expect.
I’ve kept the table display quite simple, choosing these vases of varying shades of grey, and adding a colourful book that ties in with the cushion on the armchair. Below on the lower level you’ll notice a collection of candles, again from Cox and Cox, and as before I’ve used varying heights, shapes and textures in this display. The plate is one I already own.
What do you think of this setup? Could it work in your home?
