Like everyone else, I love fall. The leaves changing, fall flavors and colors, and the promise of cooler temps and the holidays right around the corner. Unfortunately, in South Florida, we don’t have fall at all. We’re happy when the temperatures drop to 80, and we wear scarves when it’s 70. So that’s when we add some easy fall decorations to our home using things we already own. Everyone loves easy DIY projects don’t they?!
In order to bring that nostalgic feeling of autumn to your home, here are some easy fall decorations that won’t break the bank or take up too much time. With work and kids, creating DIY fall projects is at the bottom of my to-do list. So here’s my easy (aka lazy mom’s guide), and no
MASON JARS
Who doesn’t love mason jars? You can fill them with anything fall-related and place around your home. I filled mine with some cheap fall gourds from Michael’s and put them on the bakers rack in the kitchen, the guest bathroom, and shelves in our family room. It gives the house a warm cozy feel don’t you think?!
I had extra twine from a DIY baby food jar project, so I finished mine off with little bows.
You can also fill them with candy corns or pumpkin candies, or fall colored candles. Cheap too! And when December rolls around you can use ornaments instead of fall items.
Reduce, reuse and upcycle!
FALL WREATH
I used to just put up Halloween specific decorations, but who has time to change them every month? So instead I bought this wreath last year and added faux fall leaves and a pumpkin bow.
You can buy these cheaper after the holidays of course, or here are a few great tutorials for other great wreaths if you have time for a little DIY!

KIDS PUMPKIN PAINTING
I love carving pumpkins, but because of the heat they usually don’t last too long. And the foam ones from Michael’s melt apart at the seams literally in the hot sun. So we paint pumpkins!
Acrylic paint will stay on better in the elements, but I like to use the Crayola washable paint. When the rain washes it away, they can re-paint them over, and over, and over again. (genius huh?!)
Here’s the little pumpkin patch our girls created on our front stoop.
I also love to decorate with pumpkins around our house.
We buy fall gourds and put them in our bathrooms and in the kitchen.
It’s a simple yet classic way to spruce up the house for autumn! (By the way, if you like that sign, you can get the free printable here!)
FALL FOOD
If you really want to make it feel like fall in your home, you can start making delicious fall food. Pumpkin bread, butternut squash soup, fall leaf whole wheat pancakes, or even some fall m&m cookies! We love to fill extra mason jars with candy and leave them in the kitchen. It looks cute and adds a little treat!
The holidays are coming fast, are you ready?! I hope you get some easy fall decoration ideas, and if not, no worries…you can buy those Christmas trees already. (can you see me shaking my head?)
