Homes are great to come home to, but why shouldn’t they be able to take us places too? Feature wallpaper seems to be a blossoming trend once more, with sales steady rising. I absolutely love the idea that wallpaper can transport us somewhere else, into a forest or a sea of flowers. I love the idea of bringing nature inside, and the photo quality prints are just amazing these days, a far cry from the spider plant conservatory mural my parent’s ripped off their bedroom wall when we moved to a new house in 1984.
While I love Melli Mello Kevena (above) for it’s tropical riot of colour and butterflies, and I do have two wallpapered walls in my house that feature butterflies, these silver birches in Woods Photo wallpaper are my current favourites. They are so tranquil and restful, I would love them in my office or even the living room.
Wallpaper can create really fun textures, Bricklane Photo Wallpaper takes me back to a hotel I stayed in on my honeymoon in Montreal, with a wonderfully industrial feel of exposed bricks.
Or how about a sense of the seaside? I really love the idea of creating a beach hut in the hall, the porch, or maybe the downstairs bathroom. Wild Garden Peeling Wallpaper is beautifully weathered.
There are so many incredible wallpapers out there, check out my ideas board over at Wayfair for more inspiration, or see the whole collection and shop by colour, pattern and style here.
